The United Nations designates specific days, weeks, years and decades as occasions to mark particular events or topics in order to promote, through awareness and action, the objectives of the Organization. Usually, one or more Member States propose these observances. The General Assembly then establishes them with a resolution. These days/weeks/years/decades are referred to as International Days.
On occasion, these celebrations are declared by the specialized agencies of the United Nations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc., when they concern issues that fall within the scope of their competencies. Some of them may be adopted by the General Assembly.
The Dubai Expo takes cognisance of these International Days and has identified a list of seventeen (17) days to be celebrated during the Expo 2020 Dubai period. In this regard, Organizations (Public, Private and NGOs) are encouraged to identify a specific day and prepare their participation. To participate engage with us by sharing a concept, case study or share the achievements made by your organization in Kenya on the selected International day by filling and submitting this form.
